Lumbini is an important religious property included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. It is also the birthplace of Lord Buddha. People come here from all over the world for mental peace and bliss.

Lumbini is an international Buddhist pilgrimage site located in the Rupandehi district in the Lumbini province of Nepal, which is also the center of the religious faith of about 500 million Buddhists around the world.
This is the place where, according to Buddhist tradition, Queen Mayadevi gave birth to Siddhārtha Gautama as a son in 566 BC or 2589 years before AD.
Lord Gautam Buddha of Buddhism, who attained enlightenment through meditation and penance in 528 BC, is also considered the ninth incarnation of Lord Vishnu according to the Hindu religion.
Dozens of temples, shrines, religious monasteries, and tourist Dharamshala (Inn) were built by Buddhist organizations of different countries in Lumbini.
All of them have been constructed in a very attractive manner, and all these structures have been designed using the traditional attractive models and structures of their respective countries.
Most of the structures here have been completed, and only a few are under construction.
Apart from several monuments in Lumbini, a museum and the Lumbini International Research Institute are also located within this sacred site.
There are many old temples in Lumbini, including the temple of Mayadevi. Apart from this, all the ruins of ancient structures found there, such as the Ashoka Pillar, the Bodhi Tree, the Pushkarini Holy Pond, and all the historical heritage, have been beautifully preserved.
It is believed that Buddha’s mother, Mayadevi, took a bath in this sacred pond before giving birth to Buddha.
This area is considered to be the heart of Lumbini and the most important sacred and ancient area. Pilgrims from different countries visit, chant, and meditate from morning to evening at this holy place, considered the birthplace of Buddha.
Here is the ‘Vishwa Shanti Deep’, a symbol of world peace light, which burns continuously for 24 hours. This flame has been burning continuously here for decades.
Lumbini is one of the major tourist destinations in Nepal for pilgrims. It is one of the four holy sites that lord Buddha advised his disciples and followers to visit.
Not only Buddhists but also people of different religions from all over the world come here to see this picturesque and historical heritage.
The Lumbini pilgrimage site is spread over an area of 4.8 km (3 mi) long and 1.6 km (1.0 mi) wide.
A master plan was prepared here to equip ancient Lumbini with modern development. According to this, all the construction arrangements here are almost on the verge of completion.
Lumbini is visited by world tourists as well as historians and researchers interested in studying Buddhism and culture.

There is a 10-hour drive from Kathmandu and 30 minutes from the nearest town, Bhairahawa, to get to Lumbini.
This place can be easily reached by car from any place in Nepal. If you want to go by air, you can easily reach the nearest airport, Gautam Buddha Airport, located in Bhairahawa.
