These districts of Nepal are also known as the top 5 districts with the highest number of girls compared to boys because the gender ratio (Sex ratio) of these five districts is uncommonly higher than others.

Thus, having more women than usual in a particular place and having more men in another place is a kind of population problem. Situation of the gender ratio in Nepal

The National Census of Nepal 2021 showed that the population of Nepal was 2,91,64,578 at that particular point in time. Still, even in the latest national statistics, the number of women was a few percent higher than that of men.

According to the most recent census of Nepal in 2021, there are 1,42,53,551 males and 1,49,11,027 females. That is, there are 6,57,476 more females in Nepal than males. In other words, this statistic shows that there are only about 95 men for every 100 women in Nepal.

However, even considering international norms related to population, a sex ratio of 5 points above or below 100 is considered normal. According to that, we can also consider the difference of up to 5 points seen in the statistics of the entire country of Nepal as normal. Its neighboring countries, India, China, and Pakistan, also have a higher sex ratio than Nepal.

However, the figures of 5 districts out of 77 districts of Nepal that will be analyzed in this article are much higher than these national statistics and the international average ratio. That is why this page has tried to explore those districts.

Now let’s see about More Females than Males in Nepal with details of their factual situation:

No. 1 Pyuthan District

Known as the district with the most women in Nepal or according to government statistics, Pyuthan is one of the districts with the highest ratio of women to men.

Pyuthan District is a historical heritage district in Lumbini Province based on Nepal’s new state structure. Its total population is 2,32,019.

The total population of females in the district that has managed to keep this record is 1,27,887, while the population of males is only 1,04,132. That is, there are 23,755 fewer men than women in this district.

Simply put, statistics show that only 81 men can attend a fair or ceremony where 100 women gather in Pyuthan district.

Is there a marital problem in Pyuthan due to gender imbalance?

When analyzing whether there will be a problem in maintaining marital relations in Pyuthan, a district where the number of women is unusually high, the situation looks like this:

If we look at the statistics based on the marriage practice in rural areas of Nepal or the age group considered to be a teenager or adolescent, the number of young girls in this age group in Pyuthan district is 37,673, while the number of young boys in the same age group is only 26,559.

Thus, Nepal’s official statistics show that there are 11,114 more girls than boys of marriageable age in Pyuthan.

Now, what is actually happening there is probably known only to the local community. Still, if we were to analyze external statistics superficially, we would know from statistical analysis that about 11,000 girls from that district have to find boys in another district to get married.

Which province has More Females than Males in Nepal?

If you look at the data for all the above districts with a high proportion of women, three out of five districts are in Lumbini Province. If so, you must have guessed that the entire Lumbini Province has More Females than Males in Nepal.

But if you guessed like that, you would be proven wrong because the Sudur Pashchim (Far West) Province has won the record for the province with the most women in Nepal.

Because in the Sudur Pashchim Province, there is a population of 26,94,783, of which 14,21,997 are women, while the male population is only 12,72,786.
In other words, 1,49,211 Far Western women must look to other provinces to find a male partner.

Statistics show that in this province, which is said to have the most women in Nepal, only 89 men can attend a gathering of 100 women.

Do all provinces of Nepal have a higher female population than men?

In response to this question, it was almost a yes, but only one province, Madhes Province, which is fully known as the Terai Province of Nepal, has broken this record. In this province, men are almost equal or only a few points more than women.

According to the National Census 2021, 50.14 percent of Madhes Province’s population is made up of men and 49.86 percent of women. Thus, with a population of 61,14,600, there are only 16,902 more men than women in Madhes Province.

Therefore, Madhes Province can be considered the only province in Nepal where male female ratio is equal or where men outnumber women by a very small percentage.

Thus, various factors are responsible for the increase in the number of people of one gender or the imbalance of the sex ratio in a particular place, which will be discussed on the next post. So, that’s all for now.
