The Republic of Palau is a small nation with over 400 islands in the western Pacific Ocean. This country is about 500 miles east of the Philippines. As a naturally prosperous nation, we present here why Palau is the Diamond of the Pacific Underwater world.
Palau and its surrounding world are listed among the Seven Underwater Wonders*.
Many countries in the world are made up of different islands. However, oceanic islands like Palau are included in the list of world wonders because of the beauty of these areas and the precious natural and biological resources found here.
The world’s most precious and beautiful fish species are also found in Palau’s sea. In addition, more than 350 species of hard corals, 200 species of soft corals, 300 species of sponges, and 1,300 species of reef fish in the seabeds or rocks here have decorated this coral reef as a fascinating home to watch the natural world.
The nation is surrounded by about 525 square kilometers of sea cliffs.

However, Palau gained independence in 1994 and was established as a sovereign nation.

At a time when sharks were thought to be the enemy of humans, this country became the first country in the world to declare a shark sanctuary to protect the sharks found in its oceans. Therefore, all commercial shark fishing activities are prohibited in these waters.
Many programs are in place to protect the country’s crystalline waters. The sea floors and creatures living in them have been well preserved.
Therefore, most of Palau’s marine areas have been declared national reservations and large-scale fishing and mining are prohibited.

This organization is dedicated to marine research and conservation. CEDAM began the Seven Underwater Wonders investigation program in 1989.
